Aloe vera truly is a wonderful plant and one of the key ingredients in many of our tanning lotions. Aloe vera is a succulent plant that has been used for ages in many traditional cultures. Amongst other health effects, the gel like substance found inside the leaves is believed to have a nourishing, soothing and healing effect on the skin. It is frequently used to calm irritated, burnt or injured skin and to aid the natural healing process.

But that is not all this wonderful plant has to offer. Aloe vera contains compounds that stimulate the fibroblasts in our skin – cells that produce collagen. Collagen is what keeps our skin firm and elastic. When we grow older, collagen production naturally declines which eventually leads to the appearance fine lines, wrinkles and sagging. By stimulating collagen production, aloe vera can help slow down the aging process.

As you may know (or have read in one of our previous blogs ;)), hydration is the key factor to a healthy skin. Well, it just happens this awesome plant contains polysacharides that have a huge capability of retaining moisture. A well moisturized skin is healthier, recovers faster, is better equiped to produce vitamin D and is better able to adjust itself to UV-exposure (by turning a lovely golden brown, that is ;)).

Well, this little plant is just awesome. Thank you mother nature! And all though it is of no relevance to your skin health or your tanning result, in discussing this plants awesomeness we just HAVE to mention its looks. Have you ever heard of sacred geometry? Take a look and let it sink in. Beautiful, isn’t it?

Anyway, all this awesomeness makes it just the ingredient for our brand. You will find it in many of our lotions.

You may notice that Aloe vera is not on top of our ingredient list. That is because Aloe naturally contains a lot of water. We wish to be straightforward about the contents of our lotion and follow European guidelines, so on our ingredient list we mention Aloe vera based on the amount of active ingredients.

Hope you are as amazed by this little piece of nature’s awesomeness as we are. Either way, we gladly pass on the awesomeness to you, as to enable you to look as beautiful on the outside as you do on the inside – now go love your skin with some Aloe vera!
